Della Mini Split AC Installation Step By Step 2024 | Total Installation
The Della Mini Split is easy to install and works great! This mini split is the 12,000 btu unit capable of cooling up to 550 square feed. The refrigerant is included in the outdoor unit. When installing this mini split you will need to pull a vacuum so that the copper lines will be filled. This unit runs as 27db with the silentmax system so the unit is very quiet. This Della mini split needs 240v power. It is nice to have the power and disconnect at the unit.

    How does the indoor handler unit get power? The manual showed an “air break switch” next to the handler but the directions said nothing about it. So does the black cable provide power back from the condenser to the handler in addition to communication?

    Interesting that Della precharges the outdoor unit with enough refrigerant for the entire system and you needed to vacuum down the lineset.. The other one you did had a precharged lineset and both units. Did this give give you more or less confidence that the lines are free of contamination from the air?

    I've been debating which mini split to get for my 10x20 detached office shed (cathedral ceiling), got a few questions for you Seth: 1. Did you run 12ga wire? What size breaker? 2. Any reason for Della over something like Senville? I don't plan to buy DIY kits so will end up buying the pump and adapter like you. 3. Thoughts on 9k vs 12k btu for my space? I plan on going 240V model either way.

    • @sethcraftworkshop
      @sethcraftworkshop 6 дней назад

      It is nice to have AC in the shop! 1. I ran 10/2 for the mini split. You should be fine with 12/2 for a 12,000btu unit. 2. Della seems like a nice unit. I have only used Della and Mr. Cool. I do not know about Senville. 3. The 12k has not had an issue keeping my 20x30 cool. If your place is smaller the 9k would work. many of the 9k are only 120v.

    I've set a lot of trusses like these working alone I like to install the two gable ends and get them exactly where I want them. Then I will run a string from Peak to Peak to align all the trusses. Also, you could have installed your cross pieces at the peak of the truss to become the ridge blocking. That would kill two birds with one stone. Looks like a good job!

    Lot of work, glad you did not get injured. I am doing similar, but will install 2 at a time, assembled on the ground, cross-braced and tabbed for plywood sheathing, before lifting with telehandler. A lot safer. Must cross brace (make a triangle between trusses) or risk the entire roof folding over.

    This video helped a great deal in my installation of one of these units this past weekend. In all of the videos I've seen of the installs, the hole saw attachment, a nice cardboard template and the hex key were included and the wires on head unit to condenser power line were numbered/labeled. None of that was the case for me. The manual included in the boxes is... adequate. Make sure that you can easily refer to this video. I already owned the appropriate hole saw but since I was at my best friend's house, 117 miles from mine, I now own two 2.5" hole saws. There was nothing in the manual specifying how the unlabeled wires on the power cord should be hooked up in the head unit or condenser. I am eternally grateful to Seth that he showed and narrated "Red wire goes to #2..." Good luck, be careful.

    I did this in Omaha Nebraska back in 1970. I also back filled the tires but.not as tight as you have done, I. Found that the weight of the upper tire’s compressed into the lower ones and since it was rubber to rubber the wall locked itself. My wall now is over 50 years old and has not moved an inch. One small note, the bottom tier should be partially buried so it won’t slide out when the top pressure increases. I too planted ground cover so the wall eventually was green in the summer.

  • @larrykent196
    @larrykent196 13 дней назад

    Here I am wondering about the idea of the vapor barrier on a shed floor. I have read a bunch of comments from many others about this, and this video shows it done. Condensation could be the enemy here, those days when a few degrees matter and dew points meet then wet it all becomes, plastic sure holds water leaving only evaporation into steam its only escape and it will go right up into the timbers. Not so sure its a good idea. I am beginning to think the breathable landscaping cloth might be the best solution. A reduction solution may be the closest you can get. Anyone else have a comment, please do. Cheers!

      I have three buildings on my property and each have vapor barriers like this. My first shed did not have a vapor barrier.And I had a serious mold issue. I climbed under the building and placed a barrier and no longer have that issue. If I lift up the plastic, there's obvious water drops coming down.However no moisture seems to be up against the building.
